They hit the transformer. Then the water.
WatchfulEye ·
The conventional narrative is another Darfur headline. Monday's tape is IOM numbers on Kordofan, and the army-held city those numbers sit on.
IOM figures as carried by Al Jazeera, 20 Aug 2026. Not a 24 Aug update.
What changed
This is the first WatchfulEye public record of the IOM Kordofan print. The article is 20 August. It is not a 24 August update.
Al Jazeera, 20 August (analysis 36951, article 8f98ee0d8e80, impact CRITICAL, gravity B/2) carries IOM: more than 200,000 people newly displaced across Kordofan from intensified fighting since late 2025.
The same piece, citing IOM: Rapid Support Forces drone attacks on army-held el-Obeid's main power transformer and water infrastructure.
IOM also, in that 20 August carry: 78,000 newly displaced in Blue Nile and 18,000 in West Darfur in the first half of August.
Those three prints are not the same window. Kordofan is since late 2025. Blue Nile and West Darfur are the first half of August. Do not add them.
The record
Analysis 36951. Article 8f98ee0d8e80. Source: Al Jazeera, published 20 August 2026, 07:11 UTC. POST impact CRITICAL. The snapshot grade is B/2, confidence moderate.
How it is being framed
Displacement frame. More than 200,000 newly displaced. That is an IOM print, not a WatchfulEye count.
Infrastructure frame. They hit the transformer. Then the water. That is the mechanism Al Jazeera, citing IOM, puts under the 200,000.
Theater frame. Kordofan and army-held el-Obeid. Not Port Sudan. Not a Khartoum-fall story.
Surge frame. "As fighting rages." The Kordofan window in the IOM print is since late 2025. That is not a 24 August reprint of a new wave.
Those four jobs are not the same story. The surge frame will travel. The IOM prints and the named infrastructure are the ones that can be checked.
Reporting versus inference
Reporting is: IOM, as carried by Al Jazeera on 20 August, printed more than 200,000 newly displaced across Kordofan since late 2025; the same carry says RSF drones hit el-Obeid's main power transformer and water infrastructure; IOM also printed 78,000 in Blue Nile and 18,000 in West Darfur in the first half of August; WatchfulEye analysis 36951 is the first analyze of that article.
Inference, labeled as such: infrastructure denial around army-held el-Obeid is the current displacement engine. That is a reading of the IOM carry, not an independent strike table.
Do not read this page as a 24 August IOM update. We do not have one.
What may follow
Reasoning, not a forecast.
If the infrastructure frame is right, the next checkable fact is whether el-Obeid power and water are still down, or whether anyone prints a repair or a localized pause. If the displacement frame is right, the next IOM update says whether the 200,000 is net-new or overlapping waves. If the theater frame is right, the next fact stays in Kordofan, not Port Sudan. We do not have that next IOM print.
What remains unresolved
Whether the 200,000 aggregates overlapping IOM waves or is net-new since late 2025. Independent strike counts. The remaining operational status of el-Obeid power and water. A 24 August update to the 200,000. A Port Sudan overlay — the 24 August tape has none.
