Between 1 and 6 October 2026, the UK Maritime Trade Operations centre (UKMTO) issued nine warnings of tankers struck by projectiles in or near the Strait of Hormuz. On Tuesday 6 October, India and Oman said the Panama-flagged tanker On Peace had been hit off Oman's Musandam peninsula. Twelve of its 19 crew were injured, 11 of them Indian nationals, India's Ministry of External Affairs said.

Governments, owners and security firms have named seven ships: Kazimah III, Ghana Prosperity, Gas Vela, Cameroon Prosperity, Lipsi, Maran Gas Mystras and On Peace. UKMTO named none.
